About Thomas Richard Hawn
Thomas Richard Hawn, M.D., Ph.D., is a board certified physician at the Madison Clinic and the Infectious Disease and Travel Medicine Clinic at Harborview. He is also a UW professor of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Medicine, and an adjunct professor of Global Health.
With exciting advances in our understanding of immunology and treatment of infectious diseases, Dr. Hawn is honored and delighted to have the opportunity to care of patients and their infections.
Dr. Hawn earned his M.D. and Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation. He conducts research to understand why individuals have varying susceptibility to infection. His research focus is on understanding the immunologic factors associated with susceptibility to tuberculosis with a long term goal of developing a more effective vaccine.

In his free time Dr. Hawn enjoys running, biking and mountaineering.
