At UW Medicine, we are passionate about giving you the information you need to make healthcare decisions that are right for you. This includes deciding who is on your healthcare team. We provide ratings and reviews of our providers so you may read about the experiences and impressions of other patients and decide if a provider is the right person to care for you.
We also use this patient feedback to continually improve our services, so you not only have the highest quality of care but also the best care experience when choosing UW Medicine
All ratings and reviews submitted by our patients are verified by an outside independent agency, Press Ganey Associates, the healthcare industry's leading satisfaction-measurement service.
How does the rating process work?
After an appointment with or treatment from a UW Medicine provider, a patient is randomly selected to receive a feedback survey by mail. The rating score is based on responses provided in the patient experience survey. Ratings are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
Reviews, or comments, are taken from the section in the survey asking patients about their experience with their care provider. These comments are displayed in their entirety and have only been edited to protect confidentiality and privacy. Comments are also kept anonymous.
Are some reviews excluded?
Both positive and negative reviews are posted, but comments that may be considered defamatory, such as a review that is purposely false, or contain a patient’s private health information are not published on our website.
Why do some providers have no patient ratings and comments?
We post ratings and reviews about a provider only after a minimum of 15 completed surveys have been returned. This method helps to ensure accuracy and reliability by making it less likely that a few extremely positive or negative responses will skew results.
Can I add a review to my doctor’s profile?
No, reviews are selected from survey results and cannot be submitted directly to a provider’s online profile. However, even if you don’t receive a survey, we still want to hear your feedback and ask that you reach out to our patient relations team.
