About Medley O'Keefe Gatewood
Medley Gatewood, M.D., is a board certified physician in Harborview's Emergency Department, the director for Quality Improvement & Patient Safety for UW Medical Center and a UW associate professor of Emergency Medicine. He has been named a Teacher of the Year by UWMC’s Emergency Medicine residents and a Top Doctor by Seattle Met Magazine.
Dr. Gatewood champions continuous improvement in the care of UW Medicine patients presenting with acute myocardial infarction, sepsis and stroke. He loves his work in the emergency department as it affords him the chance to care for anyone, anytime, presenting with any problem.
Dr. Gatewood earned his M.D. from the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine. He serves as an examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine's certification examination.
Personal Interests
Dr. Gatewood is married with to children and relishes time with his family. He is an avid downhill skier, fly fisherman and whitewater kayaker. He loves to cook, particularly outdoor BBQ, particularly slow smoked foods.
