About Marshall S. Horwitz
Marshall Horwitz, M.D., Ph.D., is a board certified physician and scientist at UW Medicine’s Genetic Medicine Clinic, associate dean of UW Medicine, and a UW professor of Pathology, Medical Genetics, Genome Sciences and Medicine.
Dr. Horwitz’s work, in the clinic and in the lab, is aimed at explaining the genetic origins of disease to develop personalized approaches to cancer prevention and treatment.
Dr. Horwitz earned his M.D. at the UW. He directs the UW’s Medical Scientist Training Program for M.D./Ph.D. students. He is the cancer genetics section editor of the Public Library of Science journal PLoS Genetics and former chair of the NIH Genetics of Health and Disease study section. Dr. Horwitz is a recipient of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers as well as an NIH Director’s Pioneer Award.
