About Carey Farquhar
Carey Farquhar, M.D., M.P.H., is a board certified physician at the Madison and Infectious Disease and Travel Clinics at Harborview and a UW professor of Medicine, Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Global Health and Epidemiology.
Dr. Farquhar enjoys spending time interacting with patients and researching their problems in order to provide the best care. I especially enjoy exploring cross-cultural differences with my international patients.
Dr. Farquhar earned her M.D. at Harvard and her M.P.H. at the UW. She currently spends approximately 2 months each year in Nairobi, mentoring US and Kenyan trainees and conducting research on correlates of immunity against HIV-1, HIV-discordant couples, and mother-to-child HIV-1 transmission. Ongoing studies explore immune responses in HIV-exposed, uninfected infants and adults, with a focus on examining basic science questions from an epidemiologic perspective.
Personal Interests
In her free time Dr. Farquhar enjoys travel, running, water-skiing and spending time with her two children and husband.
