Yusha Katie Liu, MD, PhD, is a hand and peripheral nerve surgeon at Harborview Medical Center. She researches peripheral nerve injuries in her laboratory within the Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine on the UW Medicine South Lake Union campus and clinical and translational research through the UW Department of Surgery Surgical Outcomes Research Center. 

Dr. Liu greatly values the unique surgeon-patient connection in thoroughly assessing a patient's condition, providing all potential options, including surgical and nonsurgical alternatives, and then deciding -- together -- on the best treatment plan. She has pioneered a multidisciplinary team-based approach to comprehensive nerve injury care by spearheading the creation of the Northwest Institute for Nerve Injury at Harborview Medical Center. 

Dr. Liu's clinical expertise focuses on peripheral nerve injuries, including brachial plexus injuries, post-traumatic nerve palsies, post-amputation neuroma pain, and nerve compression syndromes of both the upper and lower extremities. She also treats a diverse array of hand and upper extremity trauma and common hand/wrist conditions such as trigger finger, thumb arthritis, and Dupuytren's contracture.
