About Tueng T. Shen
Tueng Shen, M.D., Ph.D., is a cataract and cornea surgeon at the Eye Institute at Harborview Medical Center. She is also a UW professor of Ophthalmology and adjunct professor of both Global Health and Bioengineering.
Dr. Shen is passionate about restoring vision to patients and improving their quality of life. She strongly believes that patients deserve a physician who listens, keeps them well-informed and is a partner in accomplishing the best treatment plan customized to their needs. Her clinical work also drives her cutting-edge research.
Dr. Shen is expert in cataract, refractive, stem cell and corneal surgeries, and medical management of all areas of corneal disease.
Dr. Shen's research group focuses on developing innovative solutions to treating global blindness by leveraging technological advancements. Examples of specific projects include developing the next generation of artificial cornea using advanced polymer research.
Personal Interests
Dr. Shen enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters. She expresses herself artistically through Chinese calligraphy, Chinese watercolor, photography and sculpture. She frequently donates her artwork to local communities and organizations in order to raise funds for vision care.
