About Rachel Bender Ignacio
Rachel Bender Ignacio, MD, MPH, is a board-certified Infectious Diseases physician specializing in HIV care, general infectious diseases, and infectious diseases care for recipients of organ transplantation. Dr. Bender Ignacio believes that every person deserves excellent care, no matter who they are. She strives to pay attention to the little details that can change someone's healthcare experience. She likes to work together with patients to help them learn how to participate in improving their own health. Dr. Bender Ignacio's clinical interests include prevention of HIV infection, treatment of HIV, management of complex infections, and infections in recipients of organ transplants. Dr. Bender Ignacio also directs UW Positive Research, and her research interests include clinical research in HIV, HIV, and the immune system, HIV and tuberculosis co-infection, herpesvirus infections, HIV-associated cancers, epidemiology, and implementation science.
Personal Interests
Dr. Bender Ignacio loves to travel and do anything outdoors, especially with her husband and two daughters. She is an avid ultimate frisbee player and nordic skier.
