About Lisa L. Strate
Lisa Strate, M.D., M.P.H., is a board certified gastroenterologist and a UW professor of Medicine. She is the Section Chief of Gastroenterology at Harborview Medical Center.
Dr. Strate cares for patients of with a range of gastrointestinal problems. She has a specific interest in caring for patients with diverticular disease. She likes to take time to talk to patients so that she can better understand their gastrointestinal problems and how these impact their daily lives. She takes a team approach to formulating a diagnostic and management plan.
Dr. Strate earned her M.D. from UC San Francisco and her M.P.H. from Harvard. She is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterological Association. Her research focuses on the epidemiology of diverticular complications (bleeding and diverticulitis) with an emphasis on the role of lifestyle factors, genetics, inflammation and the gut microbiome. Her work also aims to identify risk factors for gastrointestinal bleeding particularly bleeding originating from the colon.
Personal Interests
In her free time Dr. Strate enjoys pending time with her husband and two children, running, road biking, swimming, skiing and travel.
