About Joshua Paul Thaler
Joshua Paul Thaler, M.D., Ph.D., is a board certified physician at the Endocrinology/Diabetes Clinic at Harborview and a UW associate professor of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition and Medicine. He also conducts research on obesity and diabetes at the UW South Lake Union campus.
Dr. Thaler thinks the most important aspect of clinical care is listening. With open lines of communication, doctors and patients can make decisions together with better outcomes and satisfaction.
Dr. Thaler earned his M.D. and Ph.D. from UC San Diego. He has more than 25 refereed articles in the field of obesity and diabetes and principal investigator for a number of federal and foundation grants. He was honored with both the Early Career Investigator award of the Endocrine Society and the Fialkow Scholars Award (highest award to UW Medicine faculty).
Personal Interests
In his free time Dr. Thaler enjoys playing piano, soccer and tennis, spending time with family and traveling.
