About Jonathan A. Jefferson

Jonathan Jefferson, M.D., is a physician with Kidney Care and Transplant Services at UW Medical Center and a UW professor of Medicine and Nephrology and UW's director of education for Nephrology.

Dr. Jefferson specializes in glomerular disease, familial kidney disease, electrolyte disorders and kidney transplantation. He believes excellence in patient care is achieved by the integration of the latest medical knowledge with the compassion and understanding of individual needs.

Dr. Jefferson earned his M.D. from Queen's University of Belfast in Northern Ireland. He has expertise in familial renal disease, general nephrology including dialysis and transplantation, electrolyte disorders, glomerular disease and the role of vascular endothelial growth factors in proteinuria.

Personal Interests

In his free time Dr. Jefferson enjoys golf, skiing, traveling with his wife and son and choral music.
