About Helen Y. Chu

Helen Chu, M.D., M.P.H., is a board certified physician with UW Medicine and a UW professor of Medicine and Allergy and Infectious Diseases and an adjunct assistant professor of Epidemiology.

Dr. Chu feels that the preferences, beliefs and diversity of each patient and their family are important to help us understand and take care of the patient.

Dr. Chu earned her M.D. at Duke and her M.P.H. at the UW. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease. Her research is focused on maternal vaccines, in particular vaccines against influenza and respiratory syncytial virus. She studies the virologic and immunologic correlates of protection from respiratory viral infections in mothers and infants in rural Nepal and performs clinical trials of vaccine candidates in both domestic and international sites.

Personal Interests

In her free time Dr. Chu enjoys spending time with her three children, traveling and gardening.
