The doctor took his time to carefully explain details about my disease, methods of testing, and how to interpret the test results. My main question was should I begin treatment again having stopped taking medicine two years ago. After performing an examination and asking me pertinent questions, he carefully and thoroughly explained his opinion why I should not begin medicine again at this time.

About Frederick S. Buckner

Frederick Buckner, M.D., is a board certified physician at UW Medicine’s Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine Clinic and a UW professor of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Medicine.

Dr. Buckner sees many patients with complex medical conditions. He believes it is essential to analyze information and listen carefully to each patient and their family. He feels that earning the trust of a patient is a great professional honor.

Dr. Buckner, a Seattle native, earned his M.D. at the UW. He runs a research program to develop new drugs for neglected tropical diseases. He is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the American Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, the American Federation for Medical Research, the Western Association of Physicians, and president-elect for the Western Society for Clinical Investigation.

Personal Interests

In his free time Dr. Buckner enjoys family life, outdoor activities (hiking, fishing, sailing), basketball and bicycling to work.
