About Douglas J. Ichikawa
Douglas Ichikawa, DPM, is a board certified podiatric surgeon at the Foot and Ankle Center at UWMC-Roosevelt and a UW teaching associate of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
Dr. Ichikawa treats problems of the foot and ankle: bunion deformities, flatfoot deformities, plantar fasciitis/tendinitis, hammertoe, neuroma, diabetic feet and sports injuries. He has special expertise in foot surgery and in the prescription of custom foot orthoses. He strives for good patient communication, which includes explaining the diagnosis and outlining a treatment plan with conservative and surgical treatment options.
Dr. Ichikawa earned his DPM at the California College of Pediatric Medicine. His major area of interest is in the syndesmosis bunionectomy, a newer surgery that allows for full bunion correction without the need for a bone cut or joint fusion.
Personal Interests
In his free time Dr. Ishikawa enjoys skiing, wakeboarding, hiking, soccer, kayaking and running. He and his wife are finishing a cabin on Lopez Island. He enjoys home remodeling and radio-controlled modeling. His primary hobby of the last two decades has been sports photography of his two children.
