De Yamaura, OTR/L, MOT, is an occupational therapist. She treats injuries of the upper extremity, specializing in trauma, wound care, and orthosis fabrication. De has been treating post-operative patients for 15 years at UWMC, educating her patients how to care for themselves, care for their wounds, how to exercise, and maximize their function both during and after the rehabilitation process. She has had the opportunity to instruct master level OT students in orthosis fabrication. At the Exercise Training Center, De and her team use a team approach, integrating surgeon, nursing, and therapy, for optimal care of their patients. They pride themselves in using evidence-based practice to ensure their patients achieve the optimal outcome post-surgery and rehabilitation. Keeping up on the latest research and continuing education ensures their patients benefit from the most up to date practice. De takes pride in partnering with her patients to reach their maximum functional outcomes. De's clinical interests include complex wound care including flaps and grafts, polytrauma including both bony and soft tissue anatomy, custom orthosis fabrication.
