David Sheppard, PhD, is a clinical neuropsychologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. He specializes in the evaluation of thinking skills for individuals experiencing cognitive difficulties following acquired brain injury and neuromedical illness, as well as providing interventions to build psychosocial adjustment following medical diagnoses and treatments.

Dr. Sheppard describes his clinical approach as being centered on patient values to inform clinical care. He strives to have a collaborative approach with patients, their loved ones, and their medical team, and he emphasizes building on patient’s strengths to maximize independence in everyday functioning and overall quality of life.

His clinical interests include cognitive rehabilitation and neuropsychological assessment for patients with history of cancer, including patients with a history of brain tumor or cognitive changes following cancer treatment.
