About Andrew M. Luks
Andrew Luks, M.D., M.S., is a board certified physician at the Chest Clinic at Harborview and a UW professor of Medicine and Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine.
In addition to his work caring for critically ill patients, Dr. Luks provides consultative services on an outpatient basis to individuals seeking advice about travel and other activities at high altitude.
Dr. Luks earned his M.S. from Stanford and his M.D. from UC San Diego. He is triple board certified in Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonary Disease and General Internal Medicine. He is actively involved in teaching medical students. He also maintains an active writing program related to high altitude medicine and exercise physiology. His primary clinical interest is intensive care unit medicine and the care of patients with respiratory and other forms of organ failure, severe infections and metabolic problems.
Personal Interests
Outside of his work in the hospital, Dr. Luks enjoys mountain climbing, back-country skiing and outdoor photography. He closely follows the Duke Blue Devils, his alma mater's basketball team, and promises to provide equally good care to patients who cheer Duke's rival, the University of North Carolina. He is an avid bike commuter, riding year-round, rain or shine.
