About Aaron M. Cheng
Aaron M Cheng, MD is a thoracic surgeon and Associate Professor of Surgery at UW Medicine. His general thoracic surgical practice is primarily based at Harborview Medical Center, and he is also the Co-Director of the Cardiothoracic Critical Care unit at the University of Washington Medical Center. In addition to surgical management of lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies, he has particular general thoracic interests in chest wall disorders, thoracic outlet syndrome, and surgical infections of the chest and pleural space. He also has expertise in complex cardiothoracic critical care, including the use of ECMO support in critically ill patients. He finds personal gratification in working alongside patients and their families to understand their choices and improve their well-being and health in a manner that is respectful and meaningful to each patient as an individual.
Dr. Cheng earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and is board certified in general surgery and thoracic surgery and has additional subspecialty certification in surgical critical care. He is actively involved with the Society of Thoracic Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Personal Interests
In his free time Dr. Cheng enjoys fly fishing and skiing.
