Behavioral Health Integration Program
Mental and physical health care combined. How does behavioral health within primary care work at UW Medicine?
Are you struggling with an emotional or behavioral challenge, such as depression, anxiety or grief? We can help you get the care and support you need.
At UW Medicine Primary Care, you can meet with a behavioral health team alongside the care you receive from your primary care provider. That way, you get the care you need, all in one place.
- The first step is to meet with your primary care doctor to discuss your needs. Together, you will discuss the emotional and behavioral challenges you’re facing and decide if working with the behavioral healthcare team is right for you. If not, the team will help you find the appropriate care.
- Regular meetings with your behavioral health care manager. The behavioral health program is an evidence-based, integrated care program designed to be a brief intervention that offers behavioral health care for persons in the primary care setting. This “team” approach includes your primary care doctor, behavioral health care manager and a consulting psychiatrist. The behavioral health care manager will work closely with you to set your goals for treatment, develop a treatment plan unique for you to reach these goals, and coordinate with your care team. Treatment may include medications, psychotherapy or care coordination.
