COVID-19 Treatments and Therapeutics

Intravenous antiviral therapy is only given by appointments scheduled by the UW Medicine COVID-19 Therapeutics Team and oral antivirals are only given with a prescription from a provider. Please DO NOT go to the emergency department or pharmacy to request therapy without prior approval. However, if you have life-threatening symptoms, please seek medical care immediately.

Eligibility for active COVID-19 infection treatments

Patients must meet eligibility criteria in order to receive intravenous antivirals treatment (Remdesivir) or oral antivirals (Paxlovid or Molnupiravir). Patients must be screened by a provider to ensure they meet certain guidelines. A provider may ask you: 

• When your symptoms started. 
• If you have other medical conditions (for example if you have had a transplant). 
• If you are pregnant. 

Where to get treatment for an active COVID-19 infection

UW Medicine

Please do not go to the emergency department or pharmacy to request intravenous or oral antivirals. Instead:

• Work with your primary care provider to request treatment or a referral for treatment. 
• Start an on-demand video visit today in MyChart to request COVID-19 treatment and see the first available primary care provider. This visit is open to new and current patients. Start an on-demand video visit. 
• Fill out an E-Visit questionnaire in MyChart for COVID-19 treatment and a provider will respond with a care plan. This visit is open to current patients only. Submit anytime and a provider will respond in 1-2 days. Submit an E-Visit questionnaire.
